Born November 1984, I knew from an early age that I enjoyed both art and design. My art career started in elementary school when I noticed I drew stick people better than the other students did. My love for art forced me to create a portfolio at the age of 16 and attempt to get into Louisiana's renowned highschool art program, NOCCA. I was the first in my school's history to do so. After a tough critique and onsite still life drawing, I was accepted. The New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts intensive summer session opened my eyes to many things. However, the most important one was digital art. During my final year of highschool, I negotiated with the Principal to create a new class for me only. That class, of course, was web design. He approved my request, and for the final semester of high school, I studied web design and created the high school website. Though it lacked in certain areas, it was for more professional than any other high school website in the area. I was proud of my work, and so was school faculty. As high school ended, I started a new website during the summer. The Comatorium is a fansite for the band The Mars Volta. I used this site to test out many things about web design, graphic design, and learned how to properly run a website. I have redesigned, added functionality when requested, and upgraded the site countless times. In less then one year, the site grew to 18,000 members, and its popularity has gained me several clients in the music industry. I have done work for several popular bands such as Probot and Sonic Youth. I have also befriended a very important musician management firm from California. Silva Artist Management approached me in December 2003, and I have done several jobs for them since. |
